Bloomsbury Football are beyond excited to announce the Parasol Foundation’s sponsorship of our Girls Programme.

We are proud, not only to have gained the support of another partner, but also a game-changing amount of funding from the Parasol Foundation Trust.

The funding will ensure that every girl is afforded the opportunity to take part in our programmes, by subsidising those who do not have the ability to pay. We understand the effort that is needed to engage those in the typically more difficult areas to reach. The funding from The Parasol Trust will allow us to run open girls sessions across estates and community centres, allowing us to encourage more girls to take part in sessions. It will also allow us to fulfil a long-standing ambition of ours to bring on a full-time female coach to lead the programme. We hope that having a woman head the programme will provide an inspirational role model for aspiring young footballers. Someone who understands what the girls want and need from a psychological and physical standpoint will help girls to flourish in football.

Speaking on the announcement, our CEO, Charlie Hyman said, “we are delighted to receive the support of Ruth and her foundation. Her belief and backing will have a huge impact, and will help us on our mission to grow our girls programme and improve the lives of young people in London”.

The Parasol Foundation Trust was established in Gibraltar in 2004 by Ruth Parasol and has so far given over £30,000,000 in health, heritage and education grants across Gibraltar, UK, India, Israel, US, and Spain. To join the many other philanthropic organisations and causes already backed by Parasol Foundation Trust is not only heart-warming, but incredibly motivating, knowing that what we’re doing is having an impact, and will now have an even bigger impact.

We’re intent on matching our provision for girls with our provision for boys. We’re committed to replicating our academy and foundation pathways. We aim to bring girls from different socio-economic backgrounds together through playing football. We want to provide an opportunity for females to be part of an organisation that will help them to excel and grow in what has historically been a male-dominated game. We will educate and support young female players to take steps towards becoming elite athletes. We want every girl inspired to accomplish their aims, whether it's kicking a ball for the first time or signing for a WSL club.

We’re proud to have these visions unequivocally supported by someone like Ruth who is committed to giving girls and young women access to sport and opportunities to gain confidence, resilience and self-belief. To be backed by someone considered to be one of the world’s most successful, self-made women, is also an inspiration to us.

We cannot express enough our gratitude to Ruth and her foundation for supporting us, believing in our vision, and joining us on our mission improving the lives of young people in London. We’re looking to attract more funding, and you too can be like Ruth and donate to Bloomsbury Football, because every contribution helps us towards our goal of continuing to provide everyone the opportunity to play football regardless of their ability to pay.

Please get in touch with us using the social buttons below if you know of any girls who may want to get involved or are keen to play. We’re open to girls of all abilities - whether they’ve played before or not, we want them to join our incredible family.
